I’m Julia— I am a historian, food writer, and eater. You can learn more about my work on my website.

I made this newsletter because I wanted a low-stakes, low-effort way to share the things I’ve been thinking about with my friends and family.

This newsletter will be composed of links to my favorite (or not-so-favorite) pieces of the week (primarily food-related). Mostly, this is an effort to force me to learn in public, and to help distill what I am reading for work, school, and pleasure. If you have any pieces you think I would enjoy, please feel free to email me!

In the spirit of learning in public, I also wanted to incorporate one of the new things I am learning about into this newsletter: wine. Each week, I’ll talk about the wine (or other beverage) I’ve been enjoying this week, and perhaps share some history about it.

I don’t know where this newsletter is going to go, or what I want it to look like, but I am excited you are here.
